Mountain Lapidary is a family owned business with 4 members that contributes to the daily operations of the company. We are small but feel the quality of our service is better controlled this way. Each stone order is handled from start to finish by one individual. Rough stones need certain qualities to be facet grade. Most facet grade stones exhibit the look of a broken piece of glass. The center has to be clear of fractures and flaws. Take the stone and submerge it into some cooking oil. This will reduce the outside reflections and allow you to see inside the stone. If a portion is clear, this part can be faceted. Remember, you will loose 1/2 of the clear portion to the cutting of the gem. Most all stones can become a Cabochon. If you are unsure of the grade, we can help determine this for you at no charge.

Our pricing is simple.
Facet cuts:
Emerald, Square or Round Brilliant cuts are $35.00 up to 5 carats. $10.00 per carat over 5 carats.
Fancy or Specialty cuts such as Ovals, Pear, Trillion, Marquise etc. $50.00 up to 5 carats. $15.00 per carat over 5 carats.
All Ruby and Sapphire cuts up to 5 carats $50.00. $15.00 per carat over 5 carats.
All Portuguese Cuts Minimum $100.00. The rough stone must be able to provide a yield of 20 carats.

Cabochon cuts: All $35.00 regardless of size.

Wire Wrapping quotes upon request. Note, the type of design for wire wrapping a gem is usually determined by the stone size.
